From mid-December through to early January, the airport sees a surge of passengers heading home for the holidays, escaping to winter sun, or visiting family abroad. Why You Need to Book Early
During the festive period:
- Taxi demand doubles — 22nd-24th December and 1st-3rd January are the absolute peak days
- Public transport is reduced — many services run on reduced timetables or do not operate at all on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day

Christmas Day and Boxing Day
On Christmas Day, most public transport does not run at all. No trains, no tubes, no buses. If you are flying on 25th December, a pre-booked taxi is your only option.
On Boxing Day, services are heavily reduced. Trains and tubes run on limited schedules with many routes not operating. Again, a pre-booked taxi is the most reliable choice.
